No, you do not! We will rotate partners throughout class so you get to learn with different people. This helps us learn different styles and how to respond to each individual person.
For our beginning classes, you do not need any dance experience. We will teach you all the basics and techniques you need to successfully dance.
But remember to give yourself some grace on this journey. Our body needs time and frequent practice to understand the concepts of dance movement. The hardest step is getting started and you’re already halfway there!
Wear comfortable clothing that you can move around in. If you would like to wear a dress or skirt, make sure it’s not form fitting. You will need to extend your legs in tango and tight clothes around the thigh makes it hard.
Non-rubber sole shoes. You will be pivoting a lot in tango. Jazz or ballet shoes are a great cheap investment for dance shoes. Fresh socks or slip over dance socks also work.
You are not required to wear heels, but may do so if you like. Know your limits and build your way up in height.

Please let us know if you ever feel unwelcomed or uncomfortable at our events.
Both Sandy and Steve are dual role dancers and highly encourage you to dance whichever role speaks to you regardless of your gender.
In the beginning, it may be a little easier to stick with one role so you can remember the footwork. But as you progress, you can definitely learn both roles.
No, but it is preferred since there is limited spots due to studio space. We want to make sure that it’s comfortable while you’re learning.
